BATS

Smashing Colors X Smashing Baseballs

We understand to value of great wood, great craftsmanship, & the comfort & feel of a bat customized to your exact specifications.  Whether you want to have a more traditional natural color, an all-black model, match your team's uniforms, or create a custom vision as unique as you are to match your personality & your game, we know that it's all about that personal feel & love of the game.  We are here for it!

We don't think cartoon customs, candy sprinkles, or 100 pieces of flare on bats necessarily intimidate pitchers, but the custom colors & consistently hard maple & birch wood that we deliver certainly make LOUD NOISES & help you leave a mark on baseballs while inflating opponents' ERAs, one swing at a time.

You've put in your 10,000 hours in the cages, we've put in those hours on the field as well & that experience shows in our custom bats that we are proud to deliver!

How do we differentiate each of our Bat Model Series?

GRADING  WOOD  BATS:  101

A close up of a wooden flute on a white background.

Every tree is different, and every bat is split and graded based on the turning and the quality of each piece of wood.  Grading comes down to a few specifications, wood quality (Does the bat show any knots or have uneven grains?), All wood cuts have their own unique natural aspects when found in nature.  Every tree can't be crafted into what is referred to as prime-grade or pro-level wood bats.  Our Primo Series bats are considered A-Grade, which comprise most of the bats out there at sporting goods stores today.  We differentiate between Prime & A Grades and while most of our competitors are priced higher than even our Excalibur Series which uses the highest quality Prime wood, they are selling A-Grade wood or blems in some cases even for anywhere between $120 to nearly $200.00 per bat.

Some players may not recognize that in the store or even when they first swing a bat because the paint jobs hide the imperfections of some lower-quality wood billets that are made into bats.  So how do we differentiate between what becomes an X-Series, Primo, or Excalibur series?  Our process is simple, only the highest Premium Quality Prime Grade Wood is made into our pro ink dot Excalibur Series.  A-Grade is used for our Primo Series and anything less than A-Grade is finished as X-Series which is still a very high quality gamer for amateur baseball at any level, or our Work Horse Stix Series which are again higher quality wood that will remain unfinished and may have imperfections or blems that simply don't make the grade to be considered in our higher series bat categories.

Customizing Your Bat

Exclusively

For Your Game!

  • 1. How do I select the best color combination?

Start with an inspiration or idea whether it matches your team uniform(s), or your favorite colors.

    .

With the barrel customization of your lettering, look at the examples of the barrels on this screen and think of how the color contrast will show up best if you want the customization to be most visible.  Darker barrel colors should have a lighter font colors, lighter barrel colors should have a darker font colors.

    .

We want all of our Diamond King Gear teammates that swing our bats to be extremely happy with how their selections turned out!

    .

With color combinations, matching colors, whether you choose matte or gloss finishes to your bat typically work out the best.

  • 2. Choosing the best bat dimensions for your game.

Whether you are new to swinging wood bats or an old pro, if you have a question about the models or choices on weight differential, cupping vs. no cup, etc. Just ask our Diamond King Gear team and we look forward to getting you that perfect bat that you will love to grip and rip!

  • 3. How long do custom bats take to be delivered?

From initial order during off-peak season time you can expect to receive your bat within 2-3 weeks, often within 2 weeks.  However, as we are extremely busy from December-March, please plan on 2-4 weeks for delivery as we have a lot of orders that go to teams and players getting ready for spring training and the upcoming seasons.

  • 4. Maple vs. Birch ... How to choose between the two?

If you are new to swinging wood bats there are subtle differences between maple and birch bats.  All wood bats are breakable, even composite and metal/ceramic bats can break.
    .

Birch has more flexibility which means you can expect the bat to potentially being more durable and this is a material that players that liked the flexibility of ash and the light weight seem to like a lot...that is possibly until they find a maple bat with the dimensions they simply love.

    .

Maple bats came into popularity due to their density and while they can potentially crack or split more frequently than birch or ash, maple makes for some very powerful contact with the baseball and the pop seems to be worth the loss of any flexibility or durability.

    .

In the game of inches, choose the most viable tools for your game!

    .

We recommend all players swinging wood for the first time go with one of the bat models, such as a 271 that is most similar to many aluminum bats.  This has traditionally been the bat given to players as they transition from HS or college to the professional ranks where they would exclusively be swinging wood bats.
